Since 2016 the Harlem Project has been building community and bringing together young people from across NYC to create and perform alongside our professional artists. And we’re back to celebrate the tenth anniversary of the Project! This year, we celebrate our personal histories and the common ground we share through movement. Ubumuntu Arts Festival
Matthew Westerby Company travels to the Ubumuntu Arts Festival in Kigali, Rwanda to perform our signature athletic movement work for eight dancers, Objet Trouve.

Litchfield Performing Arts Concert
MWC performs in the season finale of Swingin’ Saturdays, an arts education program created by Litchfield Performing Arts. The program features two MWC works - Objet Trouve performed by eight dancers of MWC, and Insides Out by MWC2.

City of Ashes
City of Ashes is a new full length contemporary dance work marking the advent of the AIDS crisis in New York City. A multi-disciplinary collaboration with composers David Friend,
Bill Solomon and John P. Hastings and lighting designer Mike Riggs, the piece evokes the magnitude of human loss and the strength of a community determined to survive.
The program also features two short new works –
The Counterfactual, a work for four women exploring the What If? of our everyday lives, and a new work for MWC2, the Company’s 2nd Company of performers.
City of Ashes

And we’re back for another year! This year, we celebrate the richness of our diverse origins while recognizing the strength that comes from connection and collaboration.
Join us in Marcus Garvey Park’s Amphitheater for a FREE performance by our cast of 75 dancers, and join a community Zumba workshop before the show. See you in the Park!

Now in its 8th year, the Project brings together young people from Harlem, Brooklyn, Queens & the Bronx to dance alongside our professional artists, as well as a new set design from visual artist Marc Boone. Look out for Pop-Up performances around Harlem in the week before the show!
