Matthew Westerby Company is a non-profit organization based in Upper Manhattan dedicated to building community through the arts and promoting accessibility to dance for all, regardless of age, experience or the ability to pay. The Company works extensively in dance education, creating programming for all ages, and through its signature community dance program, The Harlem Project.

Rise & Shine is MWC’s accessible dance program for all ages presented in partnership with FSUMC/The People’s Church in East Harlem. Led by the Company’s professional teaching artists in a diverse range of dance styles, the program offers low-cost access to dance classes after-school, on Saturdays and during the summer.

Classes are provided on a sliding scale - with classes priced at $5-$15 per class. Payment can be made per semester. Classes include Creative Dance (Mini Movers, Tiny Turners & Leap & Learn), Elementary Dance (Soaring Steps) & Hip-Hop.

Matthew Westerby Company provides high-quality dance education through our Rise & Shine! program in East Harlem. To keep our classes accessible to all, we offer a sliding-scale tuition model that allows families to choose the rate that best fits their circumstances while helping sustain the program and expand access for others. We hope you'll select the option that works for your family and supports our mission of making dance available to everyone.
